I was in New Orleans for the ill-fated EMA'95 show. On account of the heavy rain and flooding, the conference was abandoned. The local government declared a state of emergency. At the time, we thought we were lucky to be alive. I believe a few people died as a result of being sucked into open drain holes in the street. But it was nothing like the tragedy of Katrina. Our hearts go out to the poor people in the area.
